Oh Lady Bey, how I love thee. Let me count the ways.
No. I'm not a hardcore fan that believes Beyonce's music will someday end world hunger. However, there is something to be said about what a good anthem will do for your soul. Songs like Single Ladies, Irreplaceable and Run the World (Girls) are like instant mood elevators. Even her Destiny's Child hits are classic anthems. If I'm having relationship problems or just want to feel good, Beyonce is typically my go to.
I remember getting my license and driving my mother's old 1993 (or around there somewhere) Dodge Shadow. The car's radio didn't work so me and my friends would re-enact Destiny's Child music videos. It didn't matter where we were or what type of weird freakish looks we got at red lights, we belted out tunes like our futures depended on it. Now I get weird freakish looks in rush hour traffic on my way to work :-).
Anthems do not solve dating problems or heal broken hearts. They give you a temporary sense of relief to help you cope with what you're going through. Finding a harmless release of sorts is good therapy without the cheap couch or expensive copay. So the next time you find yourself at odds with your significant other, blast your mood music and let it rip.
Please note: Beyonce is already married. Her songs are for entertainment purposes only. Actually taking her advice or reciting her words to your man verbatim may have unintended side effects. Consider yourself warned.
