You see someone you know from a somewhat nontraditional setting (ahem) in a professional environment. This happened to me just the other day. A few months back, I gracefully strutted my stuff in a date auction for charity. Fast forward seven months, and a familiar face greeted me at an offsite training. Another participant from the auction visited my classroom as a silent observer.
What does one do when confronted with this situation? Most people would suggest feigning ignorance...and that's probably the best option. I, on the other hand, couldn't help myself. I walked up to my fellow auctionee (not a real word, but work with me here) and whispered, "Were you in that Date Auction back in February?" He smiled and whispered back, "Yes, were you?" I nodded. As it turns out, we are both still single and prepared to strut our stuff on the auction block again this February. Anything for charity :-)
